Joe Bonamassa scores a midweek No.1 with his 13th studio album

Guitar maestro Joe Bonamassa has entered the UK midweek albums chart at No.1 with his new offering 'Driving Towards The Daylight' this afternoon (May 23).

The blues star is set to topple Keane from the top spot with his 13th studio album, which features collaborations with Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford, Beach Boys collaborator Blondie Chaplin, ex-Meatloaf guitarist Pat Thrall and former Kiss session drummer Anton Fig, and should be his highest charting record to date. 

John Mayer is also about to make a significant impact on the UK albums chart as his new cut, 'Born And Raised', has debuted at No.2. Adele's '21' is spending its 70th week on the chart at No.3 and fun.'s 'Some Nights' has made an appearance at No.9.

Two of the Bee Gees albums, notably 'The Ultimate' and 'Number Ones', have re-entered the chart following the tragic death of Robin Gibb at No.32 and No.6 respectively.
