Melanie C has announced she is to release a new theatre-inspired album in September.

The 38-year-old, who is set to appear at a press conference tomorrow to publicise the new Spice Girls musical, posted a message on her official website revealing news about the follow-up to her 2011 release, 'The Sea.'

Produced by regular collaborator Peter-John Vetesse, 'Stages' is described as 'a collection of songs from the theatre that have been important to Melanie at various stages of her life.'

The former Spice Girl has recently pursued a career in musical theatre with a role in Blood Brothers, while she will join Tim Minchin and Chris Moyles for an arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar later this year.
