TV channel rapped over Nicki Minaj video epilepsy warnings

A TV channel has been criticised for not warning viewers that Nicki Minaj's video for 'Beez in the Trap' could affect people with epilepsy.

Starz TV showed the video on April 27 this year - but without a warning for the clip's flashing lights.

UK media regulator Ofcom say that there are five sections in the 'Beez in the Trap' video in which lighting levels surpass their guidelines.

Ofcom said that Starz TV, who went into liquidation on June 22, could have endangered those with epilepsy. They said in a report:

"While Ofcom acknowledges that the licensee broadcast this music video in good faith, it is the responsibility of all broadcasters to ensure compliance with the Code before transmitting any material. On this occasion the licensee had failed to check and correctly identify broadcast material as problematic in advance of transmission."
