Emeli Sande, Paul McCartney & Frank Turner reveal pride at performing at Olympics Opening Ceremony

Several of the performers at last night’s stunning Olympics Opening Ceremony have revealed just how proud they are to have been involved in the historic event.

Film director Danny Boyle’s four hour spectacle featured an eclectic array of musicians, from Mike Oldfield to Arctic Monkeys, many of whom have since expressed their joy at being part of such an honour:

Emeli Sande, who performed a haunting rendition of hymn 'Abide With Me,' told The Scotsman: “I am extremely proud and humbled to be part of the amazing ceremony which will allow the world to see some of the best up-and-coming and established talent the UK has produced.”

Folk-punk singer Frank Turner, who warmed up the Olympic Stadium crowd before the show officially kicked off, tweeted:” So yeah. Just played the prologue of the Olympic opening ceremony. Been keeping that secret for a little while now!! Totally insane.”

The Beatles legend Paul McCartney, who closed the show with a sing-along of 'Hey Jude' posted on Twitter: “Thanks for the great response guys! Tonight was terrific, great, really cool. There was some talk of maybe being to playback but we decided against it and went live, live, live!”

While Two Door Cinema Club’s Alex Trimble, who sang whilst the cauldron was being lit, said: “Thank you all so much for all your love. Love love love.”
