One Direction, Olly Murs, JLS & Leona appear in new X-Factor promos

The biggest stars to emerge from The X-Factor can all be seen discussing their journey to fame in a series of promos for the The X-Factor 2012 unveiled today.

The clip featuring One Direction, who finished third in 2010, sees each member revealing how their singing career started, with Liam confessing, “When I was young I used to sing Robbie Williams on karaoke” and Zayn admitting, “My music teacher told me to audition for X Factor when I was fifteen.”

Olly Murs, who came second behind Joe McElderry in 2009, credits the show for his huge success: “Even looking back to me as a kid, I’d never have thought I’d have actually been a singer now and now my song gets played on the radio and it’s all down to the X Factor that I get to do this.”

JLS, who finished runner-up to Alexandra Burke in 2008, said: “It’s emotional to look at it now and think about the journey that we’ve had. From scraping money to rehearse in a dirty studio in London to performing on a world stage is just incredible.”

While Leona Lewis, the only actual winner to appear in the adverts, reveals: “I wanted to enter the X Factor because I didn’t think there had been a singer like me before. Since I was a little girl I have dreamed of being a singer, now my dream has come true.I can’t believe it’s been six years. It’s gone by in the blink of an eye.”
