The One Direction star, who yesterday announced his excitement about the Games, took to Twitter to declare which sports he’d like to have a go at.

Speaking to a fan, he said: “yeh im the same, watchin the heats of the swimmin on the telly! Just wana be like phelps”

Whilst talking to producer Savan Kotecha, he tweeted: “ahaha! Man i wana give the high jump a go, do u think you'd be able t sort it out!”

The Irish heart-throb earlier claimed he wouldn’t mind joining today’s road race, before offering his best wishes to the Irish Olympic team:

“All the irish athletes competing at #london2012, good luck to all of u! As usual you're country is standing right behind you!”
