Professor Green has been criticised after tweeting about the eating disorder bulimia.

The rapper took to the social networking website over the weekend (July 28) to proclaim that "bulimia is quite an intelligent eating disorder".

He then added: "It would be easier just to chew food and spit it out but still, you get to eat whatever you want and stay skinny."

Fans replied to the tweets with a critical eye, with one user responding:

"[Professor Green] is usually hilarious but this is treading on dangerous ground."

Green tried to play down the furore somewhat, later tweeting: "Queue all the people who start telling me how insensitive I am and how bulimia jokes aren't funny yadda yadda yadda."
