Joss Stone reveals she turned down The Voice

Joss Stone has revealed that she was approached to appear on The Voice UK.

The show's UK edition began in early 2012 and saw the likes of Jessie J and Sir Tom Jones taking up seats on the coaching panel.

Stone told the Daily Express that she was approached to appear on the show but she declined because she feels music shouldn't be a competition.

However, Stone said that she realises shows like The Voice give the contestants a wider audience to sing in front of. She said:

"I was approached for The Voice in Britain but I don't think so. The thing is I love music and I love singing with other people and I don't see it as a competition at all. I feel that those things are really good to get exposure but they kind of make it into a competition and that is just sad."

She continued: "Other than that it is great because they get to be heard by millions and they never would have been before."
