Rita Ora on tough love from her mentor: 'Jay-Z told me I wasn't good enough'

Songstress Rita Ora has admitted that when she first got signed to Jay-Z's label, Roc Nation, she expected it to be a fast-track to fame.

In a new interview with Complex magazine, the 'How We Do (Party)' beauty explained that she thought her career would take off quickly because she was working under such a high profile name:

"When I first signed I was this random girl from London. I thought my whole world was going to turn around. I thought I was going to be on Oprah next week with a new single."

She went on to reveal that it has taken "three years" of dedication to get to where she is now and was even told by the '99 Problems' music mogul that she was "not good enough" at one point, although the advice turned out to be priceless:

"Three years later and I'm only just starting to come out. I wanted to release every single thing I had ever recorded, but I was lucky enough to have someone like Jay saying: 'This is not good enough. You have to find yourself.' That's the best advice he could have given me."
