Nicola Roberts has revealed that Rihanna is someone she looks up to when it comes to fashion and style.

The Girls Aloud turned solo star is set to appear on new reality TV show Styled to Rock, which features Rihanna as ringleader and mentor.

The show - which will air in the UK from August 14 on Sky Living - aims to find the next big British fashion designer.

Speaking to Hello! magazine, Roberts admitted that Rihanna is one of her "style icons" and as a result she was delighted to appear on the series. She said:

"I was really excited to be working with Rihanna to find a new British up-and-coming designer. I was so flattered when she asked me. She is definitely one of my style icons."

Speaking about Styled to Rock, Roberts added that they were searching for someone who had a unique approach to fashion. She said:

"We were looking for someone who could think outside the box and who wouldn't give up at the first hurdle. I appreciated the fact that these young designers had been taken out of real life and were in a bubble where they were designing outfits for some of the world's biggest pop stars. Their dream was staring them in the face and that isn't a normal situation."
