Miley Cyrus has expressed joy at her new short, blonde haircut.

The singing star took to Twitter yesterday (August 12) to tease fans about chopping off her locks as she contemplated a new hairdo.

She posted a number of photos throughout the day as she underwent a radical new look, with short sides and a striking blonde colour.

Cyrus expressed her delight at how the haircut came out, tweeting: "Never felt more me in my whole life."

It seems, however, that not all her fans shared her views on the hair, with Cyrus later tweeting:

"My dad @billyraycyrus used to tell me "opinions are are like a** holes every body has one" LOVE my hair. feel so happy, pretty, and free."

The singer's name soon became a trending topic on Twitter as fans discussed her new hair.
