Little Mix think their "fresh" sound will help them to "stand out"

Former X Factor winners Little Mix have opened up about their career now that they're no longer a part of the talent show and spoke about their debut single, 'Wings'.

In a new interview with Digital Spy, the girl group explained that releasing a track that sounds significantly different to other songs in the UK Top 40 might help to set them apart. Jade said: "Our song isn't as clubby as everything out there which hopefully means it will stand out. It was really important for us to bring something fresh and different to the table."

Blonde bombshell Perrie Edwards added that it's hard to compete at the moment because there's so much great music around: "It feels like everyone at the moment really has to step up their game because the music out there at the moment is so amazing. Rita Ora, Rihanna, Chris Brown..."

The ladies also talked about their as-yet-untitled record and admitted that it's almost finished, and they're really "proud" of it: "It's pretty much finished. We're just finalising a few songs and perfecting bits here and there. We're so excited for everyone to hear it. It's very versatile - it definitely has what we would call the Little Mix flavour on there."

Leigh-Anne confirmed that they wrote some of the songs themselves: "We love all the songs on the album but we're probably most proud of the stuff we've written or had a big hand in. It's nice to sing words that have come from you, but each song is our favourite for completely different reasons."

When asked if she would go back and put herself through The X Factor all over again, Perrie confessed that she probably wouldn't as it was a "draining" experience: "It was so knackering that I don't think I could do it all over again. It was absolutely incredible but very emotionally draining."
