Lady Gaga gets political ahead of U.S. election

Pop sensation Lady Gaga has asked her Little Monsters for their opinions on the forthcoming U.S. election after posting a tweet that caused a follower to think she was advocating voting for a certain party.

Writing on social networking site Twitter earlier today (September 4), Gaga used the hashtag "#VoteWithYourRightsNotYourWallet", but her message prompted a response from a fan who thought she was trying to imply that Mitt Romney was "better on economic issues":

"I don't like the #VoteWithYourRightsNotYourWallet hashtag. It implies Romney is better on economic issues, which he isn't. @ladygaga"

Despite this, Gaga earlier tweeted the current U.S. President Barack Obama and thanked him for the support surrounding her Born This Way Foundation: "@BarackObama thanku for the support you are sending my mother, her time with Valerie has been crucial to The BTW Foundation. We support you."

She then asked her fans what they thought about the election and what they expect from the next President of the USA: "So monsters 18+, (and under with opinions), what are your thoughts on the US election this year. What are you looking for in a president?"

The 'Born This Way' icon also teased that her perfume launch in the New York City Macy's store will be a "very special" event: "Getting so excited for the Fragrance Launch parties in NYC. I have something very special planned at Macys for monsters!"
