Rihanna's new pixie cut was a snap decision according to her stylist

Bajan beauty Rihanna stunned on the red carpet at last night's MTV VMAs (September 6) and she debuted a brand new pixie crop.

The 'Where Have You Been' hitmaker's hair undergoes frequent re-styling, but has been longer for some time now so her new look came as a shock yesterday and according to her hairdresser it was a last minute chop because she originally planned to change her style after the awards ceremony.

Her long-time hair stylist, Ursula Stephan, told US Weekly just how much of a snap decision Rihanna's new look really was:

"We had been talking about going short for a little while now and actually planned to do it the following week, but I just felt like, why wait? Let's do it today. And Ri said the same thing."

"She was ready for her short hair again."

Rihanna picked up the Video of the Year prize last night for 'We Found Love' and tweeted a message of thanks to her fans that voted for her to win: "#RihannaNAVi we won Video of the Year!!! Thank you for voting! My night was major! Jah bless"
