RollingStone.com has revealed that according to TV Line, 'American Idol' judge Randy Jackson will return to the panel for the upcoming new series.

The new season's line up is still yet to be completed, but the addition of Mariah Carey helped things to pick up after the shock departures of both Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, and now it looks as though Jackson will take his rightful place behind the judging table once again.

Music mogul Simon Cowell also appeared to confirm the speculation last night (September 10) as he wrote on Twitter: "Just heard Randy is back on idol. Right decision."

Earlier this week, Jackson refused to directly answer questions pertaining to his role on American Idol and when asked if Nicki Minaj had been approached to join the show he simply said: "I don’t know who else has been confirmed yet or not…. I don’t really know. But I know Mariah is there!”
