Katy Perry has revealed on Twitter that she has climbed up a volcano.

The singer has endured a tough 2012 after splitting from then husband Russell Brand and finalising the divorce some months later.

It appears that Perry has indulged in something of a spiritual quest and reached the summit of a volcano, with some meditating in between.

She posted today (September 19) a photo of herself standing and looking out onto mountains with the caption:

"I ate, I prayed, I climbed a volcano."

The 'Part of Me' singer had earlier tweeted that she had been involved in meditating, telling her followers: "Starting the day with a group meditate #breakfastofchampions."

A day later, Perry said that she was cleansing her chakra - the centre of the body from which energy can be collected. She said:

"Getting some sh*t out my chakra's! #eloquent."
