Ellie Goulding admits she struggled to cope with pressures of fame

Ellie Goulding has admitted that she initially struggled to cope with the pressures of fame.

The ‘Starry Eyed’ singer, who is currently dating dubstep maestro Skrillex, told Q magazine she found the chart success and BRIT Award win difficult to deal with so early on in her career:

“I started being unable to cope with anything. My brain was going 'sorry, overload, crash.' I think the reason I started writing songs was because my brain was too full. It happened so quickly. I felt I didn’t deserve the BRIT.

"I’d see a bad review and be, 'I’m f****d.' I felt there was a backlash because I had so much attention. I felt like everyone was watching me and trying to turn me into a celebrity.”

But the 25-year-old, who releases new album, ‘Halycon,’ next month, revealed that she started to feel more at ease after taking a course of cognitive behavioural therapy:

“Literally, within one show, the fear had gone. I did this (raises middle fingers into the air) to everything that had happened. I was 'right, that’s it. I’m going in now.'

“I was committed. I wasn’t going to apologise any more. That’s the non-goth side of me, the part where I’m strong. You just have to power through. You have to.”
