Lawson's frontman reveals brain tumour nightmare: "It hit me like a ton of bricks"

Rising stars Lawson have opened up about their decision to name the band after a doctor who saved the life of the group's singer, Andy Brown.

Speaking during a VEVO Lift interview, frontman Brown explained that he suffered a traumatic time after being diagnosed with a brain tumour and he was lucky enough to have an incredible surgeon called Dr. Lawson, who both inspired the group's moniker and saved him:

"It hit me like a ton of bricks. It was a really hard time for me and my family. It just makes you realize how lucky you are to be honest."

Drummer Adam Pitts added: "It's an amazing story to survive something like that. You can tell that he thinks about life in a different way now and makes the most of every moment."

Lawson are set to release their debut album, entitled 'Chapman Square', on October 22 and their new single, 'Standing In The Dark', will be out on October 14.
