Muse score midweek No.1 with new album 'The 2nd Law'

Devon rock trio Muse have scored themselves a No.1 album in the UK midweek chart update with 'The 2nd Law'.

The band recently described the new offering as their "most weird and diverse" yet, but it has shot straight into the top of the albums chart and if it remains there until Sunday when the positions are confirmed, it will mark their fourth UK No.1 record.

Mumford & Sons have slipped 1 place to No.2 with 'Babel', Green Day's 'Uno' has dropped 6 to No.8, and Van Morrison's 'Born To Sing: No Plan B' has debuted at No.11.

Elsewhere in the Top 40, DJ Fresh has made an appearance with 'Nextlevelism' at 12, fun.'s 'Some Nights' is now at No.16, and Rihanna's 'Talk That Talk' is still clinging on at No.38 after a huge 46 weeks on the chart.
