Taio Cruz named Songwriter of the Year

'Dynamite' hitmaker Taio Cruz was the recipient of a coveted prize last night (October 10) in London at the annual American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) awards ceremony.

He was honoured by the American institution for his lyrical ability and was named Songwriter of the Year following his impressive rise to stardom in the U.S. over the past few years.

According to MarketWire, Cruz was "awarded for the songs 'Break Your Heart,' 'Without You' and 'Dynamite.', and writing on his official Twitter page earlier today (October 11), he thanked ASCAP for the continued support and recognition: "Thanks to ASCAP for naming me songwriter of the year for the second year running!"

Earlier this month, Cruz asked his followers what kind of reality television they would eventually like to see him get involved in and he tweeted: "If I were to do a reality tv show. What would you like to see me do? Some interesting answers."
