Elvis named top selling male singles artist in the UK of all time

Elvis Presley has come out top in a list of the UK's biggest single-selling male artists.

The list, compiled by the Official Charts Company to celebrate 60 years of the country's singles chart, shows that the icon has sold 21.7 million sales.

Taking the silver medal is veteran crooner Cliff Richard with 21.5 million singles sold whilst Michael Jackson comes third on the list.

Sir Elton John and David Bowie complete the top five with a combined total of 25.7 million sales between the pair.

The most contemporary act in the list's top ten is ninth-placed rapper Eminem, who has shifted 8.9 million singles in the UK - one million more than George Michael.

David Guetta meanwhile is the 13th highest selling male singles artist in the UK.
