Taylor Swift's 'Red' fastest selling album in US of last ten years

Taylor Swift's new album 'Red' has shifted a massive 1.208m copies in the US on its first week of release.

This means that the release, which was unleashed in America on October 22, has sold the highest amount of records in a first week since Eminem's 'The Eminem Show', which was released in 2002.

The rapper's record managed to sell 1.322m units on its first week on the shelves.

Unsurprisingly, Taylor Swift tops the Billboard 200 chart, giving the country-pop singer her third US number one album.

Her previous album - 2010's 'Speak Now' - sold 1.047 million copies in the US on its debut week.

The record, meanwhile, for first week sales in the US since SoundScan started collating data in 1991 rests with *NSync's 'No Strings Attached', which shifted a staggering 2.416m copies in 2000. Watch the video for Taylor Swift's 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' below:
