One Direction and Taylor Swift win big at the MTV EMAs

British boyband One Direction and country-pop superstar Taylor Swift emerged the big winners at tonight's (November 11) MTV European Music Awards.

The 'Little Things' heartthrobs took home an impressive 3 trophies, namely for Best New Act, Best Fans and Best UK and Ireland act, and while they weren't at the ceremony in person a pre-recorded video message from the lads was shown.

Meanwhile, 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' hitmaker Swift won the titles of Best Female, Best Live and Best Look. Tweeting about her exciting triple win, she wrote: "Such an insane night!!! You guys won me 3 EMAs! Best female, best live act, best look. Can't even begin to thank you enough. I love you!!"

Canadian singer Justin Bieber was awarded 3 wins, too, and was victorious in the Best Male, Best Pop and the Best World Stage categories, while Carly Rae Jepsen earned the Best Song trophy and Best Push prize.

'Video Games' beauty Lana Del Rey was crowned the Best Alternative artist and Psy picked up Best Video for 'Gangnam Style', which since its release in July has attracted over 700,000,000 views on YouTube.
