McFly: "One Direction success is insane"

McFly think fellow British group One Direction are so popular because they have "the whole package" and think their level of success is "insane".

The 'All About You' hitmakers - comprising Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd, Dougie Poynter and Danny Jones - have written three songs for the hugely popular One Direction, including one on their debut album and two on their newest offering 'Take Me Home' .

McFly's singer Fletcher told BBC Radio 5: "They remind us of us when we first started - what they're experiencing at the moment is absolutely insane."

Drummer Judd continued: "They are on another level. They're a phenomenon.

"I think it's to do with timing, but mainly they just work. They have this chemistry the five of them. Their songs have been great and you can see why they work. They have that appeal. They're just cool guys. They look cool," before Poynter added: "They've got the whole package."

One Direction - who are made up of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne - are regular fixtures on the celebrity circuit and have amassed an impressive star following.

Judd doesn't think they need all that exposure though, and says their talent alone is what makes them unique.

He explained: "They are who they are because of their songs and their performances. That's gained them all of their success. I don't think any of the tabloid stuff they do really does anything. It's not a good thing for them to do it."
