The Stone Roses to headline 2013 Isle of Wight Festival

The Stone Roses are set to headline next year's Isle of Wight Festival.

The reformed Madchester group will play their only UK festival date of 2013 at the shindig on June 14.

It will be the first time Ian Brown and Co. will have played the iconic festival.

The band tweeted about their slot: "We will headline @isleofwightfest on 14/06/13. This will be our only UK festival in 2013. Tickets on sale 28/11/12 from http://www.isleofwightfestival.com."

Isle of Wight promoter John Giddings meanwhile commented: "When you talk about the soundtrack of our lives, the Stone Roses are embedded in it. I am so proud to get them to our island - they will kick the weekend off with a bang."

Tickets for next year's festival will go on sale on November 28, with Vodafone customers eligible for an exclusive pre-sale.

The band meanwhile previously announced dates in London on June 7 and 8, with another show planned for Glasgow on June 15.
