X Factor's Chris Maloney contacts police after death threats

X Factor contestant Christopher Maloney has informed police about death threats he has received on Twitter.

The singer made it into the final on Sunday night (December 2) as boyband Union J dropped out of the competition.

However, it seems Maloney's inclusion in the all-male showpiece final has angered some viewers of the reality series on social networking website Twitter.

The singer this morning (December 3) retweeted a death threat he had received, along with confirmation that he contacted police over the message. The tweet read:

"I'm Going To Murder You Why Are You Voting For Yourself" death threats yet again! disgusting! police informed!"

At the time of writing, Maloney is currently third favourite with bookmaker William Hill to win this year's X Factor, with odds of 10/3.

Jahmene Douglas is the bookie's tip with odds of 6/5, closely followed by James Arthur at 5/4.
