James Arthur named fastest selling X Factor winner

James Arthur's 'Impossible' is the fastest selling winner's single in X Factor history.

The singer won the final on Sunday (December 9) to become X Factor's first male winner since Matt Cardle in 2010.

His debut track 'Impossible' was launched just hours after his victory and it immediately hit No.1 on the UK iTunes chart.

The Official Charts Company has revealed that the song shifted 187,000 downloads during its first 24 hours on sale, making it the quickest selling winner's single since the X Factor began in 2004.

It has beaten Alexandra Burke's one-day sales figure of 147,000 for her 2008 single 'Hallelujah', with Matt Cardle's 'When We Collide' now third on the list with 112,000 sales in its first day.

The physical edition of James Arthur's 'Impossible' meanwhile is due to go on sale on Wednesday (December 12).
