James Arthur loses ground in Christmas No.1 race

James Arthur could miss out on this year's Christmas No.1.

The X Factor 2012 winner is releasing the track 'Impossible' as his debut single and it enjoyed a quick surge up the charts.

However, The Justice Collective's Hillsborough disaster charity song 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' - recorded by an all-star cast featuring Robbie Williams and Sir Paul McCartney - has overtaken the X Factor singer in the singles chart.

It is currently 23,000 copies ahead of Arthur, with the Christmas No.1 set to be revealed on Sunday (December 23).

Official Charts Company Managing Director Martin Talbot said of the race:

"The momentum is in favour of the Justice Collective, who now have a decent lead, having sold around 15% more than James Arthur at this point. But they have opened up their lead in just two days - it could easily be closed over the next two days."
