Ultravox's 'Vienna' named best "number two" song

A track by Ultravox has been chosen as the best song not to have hit No.1 in the UK.

Their 1981 song 'Vienna' topped a poll run by BBC Radio 2 and the Official Charts Company to find Britain's most loved track that didn't top the charts.

The song was originally beaten to No.1 by Joe Dolce's 'Shaddup You Face'.

Ultravox frontman Midge Ure said about the accolade: "We are extremely pleased and very humbled to have been given this honorary number one, especially knowing the outstanding records which were also in the running."

The Pogues' 'Fairytale Of New York' was at No.2 on the list whilst Don McLean's 'American Pie' came in at No.3.
