Conor Maynard: "Don't compare me to Justin Bieber"

British singer Conor Maynard doesn't want to be the next Justin Bieber.

The 20-year-old star burst onto the music scene earlier this year with his debut single 'Can't Say No', and has since released hit singles 'Vegas Girl' and 'Turn Around' from his album 'Contrast.'

Maynard has been compared to Canadian heartthrob Bieber because of their similar rise to fame, but the star insists they are nothing alike.

Speaking to MTV News he explained: "I don't want to be the next anyone. I want to be the first Conor Maynard. I think I want to have a successful career that is unique in its own way."

Maynard has nothing against super successful Beiber though - he just wants to be seen as a hit in his own right.

He added: "There isn't really anyone out there where I'm like, 'Yeah, I want to do it like they've done it.' I think I kind of want to get to a point of being as successful as possible in a way that's unique to me."
