Shayne Ward wanted more attention from Simon Cowell

Shayne Ward believes his music career suffered as a result of being neglected by Simon Cowell.

The singer won the 2005 series of the X Factor and released the track 'That's My Goal' as his debut single, selling hundreds of thousands of units.

He released his self-titled debut album in 2006 but Ward saw his fortunes decline as every year passed, with growing gaps in between his albums.

Speaking to New! magazine, Ward believes that he was shunned by Cowell in favour of his other acts, causing his career to plummet as a result. He said:

"I'd have liked more attention. Let's just say better decisions could have been made on certain things."

Ward continued: "People have got to remember that the label took me away for three years. [Those] three years didn't do me any favours."

However, the reality TV man said he doesn't want to hold any grudges and sees little point in being "bitter" over the subject.

Ward's last album 'Obsession' was released in 2010 but it only managed to hit No.15 in the UK charts.
