An aspiring vocalist has died during the auditions round of Australia's 'The X Factor', it has been confirmed.

The 33-year-old man, who is yet to be named, collapsed while rehearsing at the Sydney Cricket Ground where auditions for the televised talent contest were being held on Friday (January 25).

A representative from Fremantle Media told The Sunday Telegraph: "He collapsed late yesterday (Friday) and was treated by medics on site before being transferred by ambulance to St Vincent's Hospital."

Shortly after arriving at a hospital in Sydney's Darlinghurst district, the man passed away and it is thought that he suffered at the hands of a pre-existing heart condition although a post-mortem examination will take place to determine the cause of death.
