Selena Gomez on new movie 'Spring Breakers': 'My fans are supportive of the risqué film'

Former Disney starlet Selena Gomez has been working on a new movie called 'Spring Breakers' and has opened up about how her fans have received the project because it's significantly more adult.

The motion picture details the journey of four college girls heading out on a holiday and deals with mature themes, but the actress and singer told MTV News that it's age appropriate considering she's 20-years-old and her followers have been "supportive" of her growth:

"My fans that are my age, I went to Toronto and we premiered it at the festival and there were girls my age that were laughing at the parts they needed to laugh at, scared at the parts they needed to be scared at."

"And I feel like I didn't even give them enough credit because they understood what this film was. It's an art piece and it's real, it's so raw, and I think they're going to understand why I did it. I mean for the younger fans, maybe they'll wait a little bit, but I don't know. I think it was a good thing for me and my fans were super supportive."

Gomez added that it's not the kind of movie that her 'Wizards of Waverly Place' fans should watch: "I know that I have a younger following and I so appreciate that and I'm so thankful for that. But I did warn them in my best ability as I could. When I see the parents I'm like, 'Maybe [your children] don't go and see this one.'"
