Lawson channel Ed Sheeran as they look to break America

Lawson have revealed their desire to make it big in America.

The likes of One Direction and The Wanted have both made a splash stateside over the last year, with the 'Kiss You' stars particularly going down well.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Lawson said that they are looking to use the likes of Ed Sheeran as blueprints in terms of gigging plans. They said:

"We're really happy with how it's gone down. Next on our hit-list is America, where we've been to play our first shows. Over there we have a clean slate and can be the band we want to be. Some people in the UK see us as a boyband, which is fair enough because of the way we look, but we're more of a pop/rock band because we play instruments."

The group continued: "A lot of people see us and judge us from the image. It's annoying. We are very much the same lineup as Coldplay, U2 and The Script. It's pop music and it always will be, but it's [us] playing it. When Ed Sheeran went to America he gigged his arse off, and that's what we'd like to do as well – as many gigs as possible."
