Radio 1: 'Nicole Scherzinger and Hurts aren't on our playlists as other acts are more important'

Songs by Nicole Scherzinger and Hurts have been refused by Radio 1 for its playlists to make room for "more important" tracks.

The station has started personally tweeting the artists it won't include and earlier today (February 13), messages were sent out to the former Pussycat Doll and member of Hurts, Theo Hutchcraft, to inform them that their new singles didn't make the cut.

'@BBCR1' wrote: "@theohurts won't be added today as there is more important releases at the station at the moment. #R1Playlist."

A second post was then shared with Scherzinger that read: "@NicoleScherzy is another not to be added. Again, due to the amount of other releases this week. #R1Playlist."

Despite the bad news for the aforementioned stars, acts to be added to Radio 1's A, B and C playlists this week include Jake Bugg, Drake and Disclosure.
