Brian McFadden: 'One Direction will have longer careers than The Wanted as they're more loveable'

Former Westlife singer Brian McFadden has given his opinion yet again on the UK's current boybands, likening the biggest two to both his own former group and 'When The Lights Go Out' hitmakers, 5ive.

Speaking to Entertainmentwise about the music scene in Britain at the moment, he explained that longevity is an issue and he can see One Direction having a more successful career than The Wanted because they're more "loveable".

Referring to One Direction, McFadden said: "There's just something about them, they remind me of Westlife, their personalities. I would see One Direction and The Wanted how I used to see Westlife and 5ive. The Wanted are like 5ive and I think One Direction are like Westlife.”

He confessed that from what he's seen from both groups so far, he expects One Direction to last the longest: “Time will tell, my money's on One Direction but I think they're both great. They're two different kind of bands as well which is good, it's not really fair to compare them.”

"The Wanted are a bit edgier but I think at the end of the day it's the wholesome loveable boybands like One Direction that normally last. Take That, Boyzone, Westlife, they seem to be the ones that last longer. The naughty ones like Blue and 5ive, they don't stay around as long.”
