Sony to sue Swedish man for £154,000 after he leaked Beyoncé's '4' album

Record label giants Sony has confirmed plans to sue a Swedish music fan for $233,000 (£154,000) after he shared a copy of Beyoncé's latest studio album, '4', online.

While the identity of the 47-year-old man remains unknown, he is thought to work in the music industry and resides in Gothenburg, and apparently leaked the record on June 8 ahead of its June 24 official release date.

Sony claims that his actions caused tension in the label's relationship with the 'Halo' superstar along with damaged sales revenues and marketing strategies created for the release.

Earlier this year, two hackers named James Marks, 27, from Northants and James McCormick, 26, from Blackpool were found guilty of stealing music from Sony were slapped with 6-month suspended sentences and made to complete 100 hours of community service.

Next month, Beyoncé will head to the UK and Ireland for her headlining tour, which sold out in mere minutes.
