Carly Rae Jepsen teams up with 'American Idol' and Coke for new single

'Call Me Maybe' hitmaker Carly Rae Jepsen has revealed that she has paired up with Coke and 'American Idol' to help her finish a brand new track called 'Take A Picture'.

Jepsen has become the new face of Coke's Perfect Harmony program, which allows fans to vote for lyrics that will be used in an original song, and she will perform the finished single on the first part of the 'American Idol' season finale on May 15.

Speaking about the interesting project, the songstress explained: "I'm the type of person who kind of thrives on collaboration. I was in the Bahamas and spent probably three days cooped up in my hotel coming up with different ideas for the fans. The hook is 'I'll take a picture of you / taking a picture of me,' and the viewers get to pick their favorite."

She described the cut as a "retro summer pop song" and added: "There's a few bits about being lazy, riding bikes – it'll be fun to see which ones people pick, even though I definitely have my own favorite."

Andy McMillin, VP of Coca-Cola Trademark, issued a statement and said: "Carly Rae Jepsen [is] a fresh, new artist who truly understands what it takes to create hit songs. Her fun, creative nature will help drive fan participation and deliver an end result that we expect music fans to love."

Voting begins today (March 20) at AmericanIdol.com and continues through May 14.
