Psy passes 50 million YouTube views with new video 'Gentleman' in just 2 days

Korean sensation Psy has revealed his shock at the immediate popularity of his brand new music video for 'Gentleman'.

The official video for the track was released via YouTube on April 13 and after just one day it became the most viewed clip in that specific space of time with 10.7 million hits, beating Justin Bieber's previous record of 8 million views for 'Boyfriend'.

Now (April 15), the offering has amassed 52.9 million hits and the star took to his Twitter page earlier today to expressed his surprise at the incredibly numbers, writing: "51million views in 40hours!! My God~!!! PSY - GENTLEMAN M/V:"

The video for his breakthrough single, 'Gangnam Style', is currently the most watched on YouTube of all time with over 1,526,200,000 hits.

Speaking about his new single, 'Gentleman', during a recent concert in Seoul, Psy confessed that the almost overnight success he has enjoyed might be short-lived so he will just enjoy every second of it:

"I've been doing this for 12 years. Would it be fair to call me a one-hit wonder just because my next song falls flat? I gained international fame almost by accident but that does not mean that I will make desperate efforts to maintain that global popularity. I will just continue to do what I have been doing for all these years. If it satisfies people's appetite it will. If not, it won't."
