Union J use One Direction as example of why X Factor should be praised

Union J have used the likes of One Direction as an example of why the X Factor should be lauded.

As previously reported, Emeli Sandé recently said in an interview that she believes wannabe acts should avoid entering the TV talent show because it doesn't encourage creativity.

However, Union J - who were semi-finalists on the show in 2012 - told Entertainmentwise that it has produced some top acts like One Direction and that it should be praised as a result. Josh Cuthbert said:

"It's made so many people's dreams come true. You will not be able to listen to a radio station for a day and not hear a song from somebody who has had success coming from the X Factor. JLS, Little Mix, One Direction..."

Jamie Hamblett added: "If you're lucky enough to make it without a platform like that it's fine and she works really hard and whatever but I struggled for 7 years, sending demos off to everywhere. It doesn't cheapen the fact that we've made it because we've worked just as hard."
