Chris Brown's dad has admitted that he didn't initially approve of his son getting back together with Rihanna.

The celebrity couple originally dated before splitting in 2009 after he assaulted the 'Stay' singer.

It seems they have got back together, however, with Chris Brown also appearing on Rihanna's 2012 record 'Unapologetic'.

Speaking to The Sun, father Clinton Brown said that he initially wished his son hadn't reconciled with the pop songstress, admitting:

"I really didn't want him and Rihanna back together because of the scrutiny and because they are two individuals who are whimsical."

He continued: "You don't have the balance. You need to have balance in a relationship. You need to have someone who is spontaneous but you also need someone who is grounded and logical. Even if I gathered a bunch of people with signs and said, 'Stay away from Rihanna, stay away', Chris will do what Chris wants to do. That's his choice and I want him to be happy at the end of the day."
