Mel B will present a special award to Adam Lambert that pays tribute to his working promoting LGBT equality.

The 'Better Than I Know Myself' singer will pick up the Davidson/Valentini gong at the GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco on May 11.

Spice Girls star Mel B will be on hand to give the award to Lambert and the British singer said that the vocal powerhouse is an "inspiration" to many. She said:

"I'm a huge fan of those who open doors for social change and equality, and that's why I'm so honoured and thrilled to present the GLAAD Media Award to the brilliant, talented, and very deserving, Adam Lambert! His fearlessness is an inspiration."

The awards meanwhile pay tribute to "media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBT community and the issues that affect their lives".
