Blackstreet member files a lawsuit over group's name

'No Diggity' group Blackstreet have been caught up in a legal battle after one member has filed a lawsuit against them over the rights to the band name.

Singer Chauncey Black is seeking damages from fellow member Teddy Riley for performing under the group's trademarked name without permission.

44-year-old Black recently purchased the name and has claimed that Riley has no performing rights to the moniker, so has filed a trademark infringement suit against him.

A representative for Riley has now explained to TMZ that Black's accusations are "ridiculous": "At this time we have no comment on any of the ridiculous and frivolous claims apparently being made by Chauncey Andre Hannibal aka 'Black.'"

Meanwhile, Blackstreet have been confirmed to perform at Essence Festival in America, which will take place in New Orleans between July 4-7. The event will be headlined by 'Halo' superstar Beyoncé.
