Daft Punk's 'Random Access Memories' gives them first ever U.S. No.1

The new album from Daft Punk has shot in at No.1 in the USA this week after shifting an impressive 339,000 copies in its first week of sale.

'Random Access Memories' has now debuted at the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart and Nielsen SoundScan confirmed that it sold considerably more copies than initially predicted.

In addition to this, Daft Punk's new record also secured them the second-largest sales week of the year overall, coming in second place to Justin Timberlake's 'The 20/20 Experience', which sold 968,000 copies in March.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that the French electro-duo had broken a new Spotify record with their latest offering as it toppled Mumford & Sons' 'Babel' as the most streamed album on Spotify in the U.S. in its first week. Mumford & Sons previously held the title with more than eight million plays.
