Ed Sheeran explains UK absence: 'England needed a break from me'

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran delighted his home-country fans this weekend after performing live at Capital FM's Summertime Ball, but revealed it's one of the only shows he will play in the UK this year.

He joined songstress Taylor Swift on stage at Wembley Stadium on Sunday night for a rendition of their duet, 'Everything Has Changed', but admitted to laying low this year in England to give people a break from constantly seeing and hearing him on the television and radio:

"The reason I wasn't doing any performances this year in England is, I think it's important to give the public a break sometimes. I mean I was doing everything and I was everywhere."

The 'Lego House' superstar is currently travelling across the USA in support of Swift on her 'Red' tour and added that his visit back home was incredibly short as he needs to get back to America to continue the 6-month run of dates:

"I'm leaving tomorrow morning, so it's very cruel! They were like, you can come back but for two days and then you have to go back. So I've just fit in a lot of friends and family time since I've been here."
