'The Voice' winner Andrea defends title: 'I understand Will.i.Am's disappointment as I wasn't his act'

27-year-old Andrea Begley, who won the 2013 run of 'The Voice' over the weekend, has revealed that reading coach Will.i.Am's comments about her success wasn't too painful as she knew he really supported his act, Leah McFall.

Following partially sighted-Begley's win on Saturday night (June 22), the Black Eyed Peas star tweeted a message to his followers that explained he was "so sad" and "perplexed" that McFall hadn't come out on top. Despite expressing his sadness at the show's outcome, Will.i.Am added that he was proud of Begley's popularity: "Andrea is amazing...#dontGETmeWRONG...but we know who has the incredible #voice."

Upon being informed of his comments, the talented winner explained that she empathises with him because he spent so much time and energy coaching McFall and has no hard feelings towards him at all: "I had a good chat with Will afterwards. Every coach is 110% behind their act and Will was definitely very much from the get-go behind Leah, and I'm not surprised that he said that."

"He actually said to me that had I been on his team he'd have the same level of support for me. It's his act. He wants to support them all the way, and I have no doubt beyond the show Leah will do exceptionally well. She will be very successful. Will spoke to me and he wishes me well, but obviously everybody wants their act to win and I can understand that he maybe was disappointed. But at the end of the day the audience voted me, so that's it."
