Ciara defends use of 'N-word' in song: 'I'm an African-American woman, so I can identify with that word'

'Goodies' beauty Ciara has revealed that using the 'N-word' isn't a big deal to her as she can 'identify' with it and also manages to 'have fun with it'.

During an interview with Access Hollywood Live earlier today (June 25), the star explained that context is key where this particular word is concerned:

"As an entertainer you have fun and it's all about the context it's used in. I am an African-American woman, so I can identify with that word in different ways. I know where I'm coming from... If we have fun with it and you can understand where it's coming from, then you can probably receive it in that way."

She added that because of her own race, she feels comfortable using it 'in the right way', but would feel incredibly offended if someone of another background were to use it: "I have the power to speak in a light-hearted way about it... (but) I cannot hear another person of another race saying, 'You this and you that'. It's all about how you say it... You know when you're using it one way."
