The Rolling Stones' Glastonbury set was the most watched performance from the festival on the BBC.

The veteran rock group's debut slot at the massive festival was hugely anticipated and the BBC secured the rights to show around half of their set.

The broadcaster's Saturday night BBC2 Glastonbury show, which featured the Stones, had an average audience of 1.3 million, with its biggest peak coming in at 2.6 million.

The Sunday night show meanwhile, which saw Mumford & Sons headline, averaged at 853,000 viewers.

BBC3's Friday night programme meanwhile had an average of 744,000 viewers.

As previously reported, Mumford & Sons ended their headline set by bringing on the Vaccines, Vampire Weekend and The Staves to perform a cover of the Beatles' 'With A Little Help From My Friends’.
