Backstreet Boys "almost" appeared in The Wanted's latest music video

American favourites Backstreet Boys have revealed that they were asked to make a cameo in The Wanted's 'Walks Like Rihanna' music video, but were unable to because of clashing schedules.

Singer Howie Dorough told MTV News UK that they would have been up for shooting a few scenes with the UK based boyband, but there wasn't enough time for them to make the plan a reality:

"We just saw the guys the other day at our concert at G-A-Y at the Heaven club and they're a bunch of great guys. We've known them for about a year now, four of us did a performance with them with the New Kids back at the Hershey Park festival last August and I actually had a chance to meet their manager Ashley at the Grammy Awards and we exchanged information."

The 'I Want It That Way' hitmaker added: "He had his partners reach out to me to see if the guys would actually be interested in making a cameo in the ['Walks Like Rihanna'] video, but unfortunately our schedules didn't work, but we were very flattered by it."

Referencing The Wanted's video, Dorough remarked that the Backstreet Boys liked the premise: "We actually had a chance to read the treatment and see how they were excited about paying homage to us and that's cool. You know, so many artists have inspired us out there in the world from Boyz II Men to Shai to The Temptations, all the groups back to doo-wop days."
