Dance music becomes the UK's third most popular genre, overtaking R&BThe British Phonographic Industry (BPI) has confirmed that dance music is moving up the popularity ranks and has now overtaken R&B as the third favourite genre in the UK. Pop and rock hold the first and second places, but dance has climbed to No.3 in the first half of this year thanks to tracks such as Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' and 'Feel The Love' by Rudimental (pictured left). Surprisingly, the genre also accounts for one in ten albums purchased in the UK. Chief Executive of the BPI, Geoff Taylor, explained the genre's growing appeal: "Dance music is well on its way to becoming one of the defining sounds of 2013." The Top 10 dance singles of 2013 according to the BPI so far are as follows: 1 'Get Lucky' - Daft Punk ft. Pharrell Williams
